The Every Kilowatt Counts Summer Sweepstakes is designed to reduce summer electricity consumption by ten per cent among Ontario’s homeowners. Residents are encouraged to register for the contest prior to June 30 to be eligible to win Early Bird prizes which include solar iPod/cell phone chargers and power bars with integrated timers. Consumers who have registered and who successfully reduce their electricity consumption by 10 per cent will have a chance to win exciting green prizes including ENERGY STAR qualified appliances, an iPod Touch with solar charger, or a pair of mountain bikes.

All Ontarians are eligible for the Early Bird prizes. Ontarians are eligible for the Grand Prize Draw, provided:

• They are residential customers (seasonal, recreational and bulk metered multi-unit residential accounts excluded)
• They have an active account with twelve months billing data at the same premises preceding the program season (July 1, 2008 to July 1, 2009)
• They have an active account at the same premises for the full program season (July 1, 2009 to August 31, 2010)
• The program will run from July 1, 2009 until August 31, 2009.

The Every Kilowatt Counts Summer Sweepstakes will run in conjunction with a series of other programs intended to assist Ontarians in meeting their 10% electricity savings requirements. These programs include:

• Every Kilowatt Counts Power Savings Event – instant rebate coupons on energy saving products are available at more than 1,300 participating retailers across Ontario. Coupons are valid through June 15, 2009.
• The Great Refrigerator Roundup – Ontarians are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to dispose of their energy intensive, secondary fridges in an environmentally friendly way with minimal hassle
• Cool Savings Rebate Program – Rebates are offered to residents who replace old air conditioning and heating systems with ENERGY STAR®-qualified models and installations of programmable thermostats by program-registered technicians.
